Introduction
This course is designed for those wanting to develop advanced accounting skills to assist in providing high level advice to management and governing bodies. It examines advanced accounting and auditing issues and assists in developing potential in realwork situations. Participants are encouraged to apply and test these ideas in the workplace and evaluate them in light of individual experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Unit exemptions up to 150 credits may be granted optional units on prior completion of professional accounting examinations approved by the School of Accounting.

Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is of three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation
In the six core units, students will explore topics in the areas of - financial accounting, managerial accounting, governance and auditing. Optional units are available in the areas - Information Systems auditing and international aspects of accounting, taxation, and finance.

Career Opportunities
Graduates generally find employment with organisations, both in the private and public sectors, and accounting firms.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
