306359 v.1 Master of International Social Development

MIntSocDev(Curtin)

Introduction

This course is designed to prepare graduates in humanities to work in the field of social development in the changing global economic order. It has special relevance for graduates from countries in the Asia Pacific region and other developing nations, which are experiencing a reduction in the disbursement funds for social services. It examines in detail the current trends in the global economy and imparts the skills to work with people at the grass root level. The course prepares a development worker who can facilitate the communities to attract development funds, manage, plan, and implement development initiatives. At the completion students are equipped with the capacity to design, manage, implement and evaluate the outcomes of development initiatives.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Applicants from allied disciplines other than social work receive a degree or equivalent degree. Three-year degree holders with relevant work experience of not less than two years may apply to the Head of the School for determination of equivalence. Students should note that only students with a four year social work degree may be admitted to the similiar Master of Social Work.
