Double Degree in Social Science and Media and Information

Introduction

This double degree in Social Science and Media and Information provides students with a broad education in the Social Sciences and Media Information.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

TEE English or English Literature, minimum scaled mark of 60 desirable.

Specific Requirements

STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study. Provided that the stipulated prerequisites and corequisites are fulfilled, enrolment on a part-time basis is permitted.

Course Organisation

Students undertake the Anthropology, Geography, History, Politics or Sociology major in combination with the Film and Television, Internet Studies, Journalism, Librarianship and Corporation Information, Media Studies or Multimedia Design major. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event the relevant Head of School shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
