BSc(Curtin)

Introduction

This degree conversion course is for international occupational therapy graduates who have a Diploma in Occupational Therapy. It provides an opportunity to upgrade their existing qualification to a degree through an on-campus degree conversion course.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Applicants must have completed an occupational therapy course of at least three years duration, leading to a diploma level qualification, which is approved by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT). Applicants must also meet the University's basic English language requirements for entry. Applications must be made through the International Office.

Specific Requirements

Applicants for this course should refer to the Communicable Diseases and Criminal Record Screening/Clearance Section of this publication.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Having met the entrance requirements students are awarded with recognition of prior learning of three years when selected to enter the Degree Conversion course. A minimum of one year of study, equivalent to eight full units, must be undertaken for completion.

Duration and Availability

This course is normally one year full-time study, although this will be affected by the level of recognition of prior learning granted.

Professional Recognition

Graduates from this course are eligible to apply for membership of the Australia Association of Occupational Therapists and for registration with the Occupational Therapists Registration Board of Western Australia. The course is recognised by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT).

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study. This course is offered on a full fee paying basis only.
