302873 v.4 Bachelor of Science (Chemistry), Bachelor of Commerce (Information Systems)

BSc(Curtin), BCom(Curtin)

Introduction

This course is designed for those who wish to pursue careers in the world of commerce which are firmly grounded on a professional scientific background in industrial and applied chemistry. Students will complete this course as a Bachelor of Science with a Chemistry major and as a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Information Systems. A substantial proportion of the activities in a modern economy is based on chemical materials and chemical processes. Examples include food, drugs, organic and inorganic materials, fuel, lubricants, and so on. There are also the aspects of managing the impact of these activities on the natural and human environment.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

TEE Chemistry and Applicable Mathematics.

Specific Requirements

The STAT is not accepted for entry to this course.

Note

Students will normally be expected to have attained a higher Tertiary Entrance Rank than is required for both single degrees.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Professional Recognition

Graduates will qualify for professional membership of the Royal Australian Chemical Society and will meet the academic requirements for other appropriate organisations such as the Australian Computer Society and the Australian Marketing Institute.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
