MStratProc(Curtin)

Introduction

This course is designed to provide the theoretical foundations and techniques of management, law, logistics purchasing, contract administration, via a case study together with practical business applications. A range of issues are studied applicable to strategic procurement including - competitive conduct, strategy, logistics and management.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A business or commerce degree from a recognised tertiary institution or extensive professional experience in the area of strategic procurement or contract management, OR a Graduate Diploma in Strategic Procurement.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. It is expected that most students complete over three years on a part-time basis.

Intermediate Awards

A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of either the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Strategic Procurement may apply for graduation in those awards subject to approval of the Head of School. For further definition refer to the Statement and Awards section under General Information.

Professional Recognition

Graduates are eligible to meet the requirements leading to full membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply in the United Kingdom.

Career Opportunities

Graduates are expected to obtain employment in both the public and private sectors. Public sector employers are State and Federal government departments that are responsible for managing large procurement contracts and local government authorities. Private sector employers include large commercial organisations and mining companies.
