Suffix notation and tensor operations, stress and equation of motion, rate of strain tensors, energy and constitutive equations, laminar and turbulent flows. Introduction to computational fluid dynamics. Solutions of partial differential equations models in biology, engineering and science. Models may include a simplified version of the Hodgkin-Huxley model for nerve impulse transmission, traffic flow, solidification of rolled steel sheets, ground water flow and effects of pollutants in rivers.
