Introduction to power electronic concepts, dc-dc converters, benefits, isolation, average power. Isolated converters, flyback, buck derived forward converter. Half-bridge and full-bridge dc-dc converters. Resonant converters. Characteristics of power semiconductors. Gate drive circuits and device protection. Switching losses, conduction losses, thermal management, heatsinking. High frequency magnetic components, capacitors, etc. Electromagnetic compability.
