Introduction
This course develops knowledge and skills in international health. Consisting of a combination of units based on current knowledge and practices. These units relate to the acquisition of knowledge and skills for the planning, management and delivery of appropriate health programs and services throughout the world. Upon successful completion of this course, students have the option of continuing into the Postgraduate Diploma in International Health, Master of International Health or Doctor of International Health.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A degree or equivalent work experience. Applicants unable to meet this requirement may have to undertake appropriate assessment and preparation with selection based on academic background, work experience and referee reports.

Specific Requirements
Applicants for this course should refer to the Communicable Diseases and Criminal Record Screening/Clearance Section of this publication.

Duration and Availability
The fee paying course is one semester full-time or equivalent part-time study, and is also offered externally by distance education.

Course Organisation
Other discipline units may be selected compatible with professional qualifications and particular interest in international health. Likely areas of specialisation are - environmental health, health promotion and disease prevention, primary and secondary health care and medical anthropology and health planning, policy and management.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.

Special Note
Prospective students should receive counselling before undertaking study tour units to minimise potential health risks or difficulties that may require consideration on return to any clinical setting.
