Introduction
This professional masters program provides opportunities for health professionals from varied backgrounds to enhance professional career development through studies in one of five available clinical specialisations. Specialisations are offered in Disability, Mental Health, Gerontology, Hand and Upper Limb Rehabilitation and Occupational Therapy. It produces graduates who are informed of current trends and are able to critically analyse and determine best practice in the relevant health service area through enhanced knowledge, skills and clinical research competencies. Flexible and accessible learning programs satisfy the diverse learning needs of students providing practitioners with basic foundations in a range of research methodologies in order to critique and use evidence to produce the best clinical outcomes.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy or a Degree from a related health or social sciences discipline, together with a minimum of one year clinical experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis, especially with extensive work experience and clinical specialisation or significant publication and research experience.

Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is of three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. All units are offered through distance education mode and available to local and international students with communication possibilities based on WebCT. Alternative delivery modes will be considered dependent on numbers and location of international students.

Course Organisation
The course has a generic core with assignment and project opportunities for professional specialisation. It will have involvement from experts in the relevant clinical and research health fields. Partnerships with a variety of health areas outside the University will be forged through the development of clinical projects by students.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
