Introduction
This course provides a range of theoretical skills and practical knowledge to professionals with an interest in environmental health or already working in the field who wish to undertake research in related areas. The effective management of the health needs of a community requires a sensitivity to public expectation and an equitable balance of science, law, environmental and social factors and economics. Environmental health practitioners contribute to this inter sectorial framework of management within government. This course expands the knowledge and skills base of environmental health specialists and other graduates of science and engineering disciplines enabling them to successfully adapt to the changing environmental health needs of communities.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A bachelors degree plus two years relevant work experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. It is conducted principally in external mode with some optional units available on an internal basis.

Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Environmental Health Management or Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Health may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award subject to the approval of the Head of School. For further definition refer to the Statement and Awards section under General Information.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
