Introduction
This is an applied counselling course designed for professionals such as health professionals, pastors, educationists, and other human service workers using counselling and group work skills. It offers an opportunity to expand on existing counselling and group work skills for individual, organisational and community work. A feature of the program is flexibility, enabling focus on specific applied areas of interest.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A four year degree or equivalent, or a three year undergraduate degree and a postgraduate diploma in a related area. Applicants without this requirement but holding a three year degree in a related area with relevant work experience undertaking counselling, management and policy related activities at a senior level are considered.

Applicants for this course should refer to the Communicable Diseases and Criminal Record Screening/Clearance Section of this publication.

Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is available on a one year full-time or two year part-time basis. Entry into this course is available at the commencement of the year and mid-year. Applicants should consult the Course Coordinator to determine availability of units. Counselling Fieldwork 667 and 668 and Interpersonal Processes 666 commence four weeks prior to each semester. Remaining units follow the standard semester format. The two counselling fieldwork units may be undertaken at times convenient to the student in consultation with the Course Coordinator.

Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Graduate Diploma in Counselling (Health) may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
