Syllabus: Sexuality and relationships education (SRE) is concerned with the emotional, social and physical aspects of child and adolescent development in terms of intimate relationships, and sexual well-being. Students will apply pedagogical approaches to SRE; acquire knowledge, skills and positive attitudes towards relationships and sexuality; and examine, plan, deliver and assess current sexuality and relationships education curriculum. Other topics include the importance of a safe supportive classroom environment; handling sensitive issues that may be perceived as barriers to teaching SRE; strategies for engaging with parents and the wider community; assessing SRE resources; strategies that are affirming of sexual diversity; and working competently and confidently in a multicultural environment.
