Syllabus: Review of advanced surveying techniques as applied to mine surveying. Transfer of true meridian to an underground base. Gyroscopic methods used to find the north azimuth. Underground traversing. Stope surveys. Gradient control. Shaft surveys. Surface and underground setting-out surveys. Application of GPS in mine surveying survey adjustments and error analysis. Transformation of coordinate systems. Check surveys and survey adjustments. Preparation of surface and underground mine maps. Legal aspects of mine surveying.
