UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline.
Syllabus: Practical exploration techniques in the field. Exploration drilling methods and logging of drill materials. Computer applications in exploration and mining geology. The mining cycle. Sampling theory, sampling methods and QA/QC. Principles and methods for estimating mineral resources, including an introduction to geostatistics. Grade control from mine to mill. Public reporting of resources and reserves (JORC code). This unit includes an intensive five-day session of classroom and field activities in Kalgoorlie.
