Syllabus: The understanding of material selection and its manufacturing and corrosion properties is essential to Subsea Engineers. The unit covers the general principles of materials selection; welding and joining technology; the principles of corrosion, the mechanisms and protection methods: and bio-fouling issues and remediation methods.
