UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline.
Syllabus: General overview of the drug development process including preformulation and formulation development. Preformulation data acquisition and application to formulation development and problem solving with focus on solubility and stability. Formulation development and problem solving as applied to oral drug delivery, mucosal drug delivery, total parental nutrition (TPN) solutions, proteins and peptides, transdermal delivery, anotechnology and specific drug absorption issues.
Further Information: The assignment and the presentation will now account for 25% each. This is to be tailored to the amount of work expected for such tasks and should put a significant weight on the student’s individualised performance alone and within a group. In order to pass this unit, it is essential for the student to achieve at least 50% in the final examination and a satisfactory level in the other assessment areas.
