UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline.
Syllabus: In the Engineering Research Project units, students have to demonstrate they have acquired and can apply advanced knowledge and skills to solve complex problems in their discipline. In this unit students will: identify a problem, propose and plan a solution that meets the requirements, do a literature review to investigate existing solutions, make design decisions and assumptions to develop their solution, keep a logbook, and give an oral and written progress report at the end of semester.
Further Information: Enrolment is conditional on: 1) a copy of the project registration form being submitted to the Projects Coordinator before 4 pm on the Friday of the first teaching week of the semester. 2) a project plan, a copyright release form and a patents agreement form being supplied to the Projects Coordinator before the HECS cut-off-date. Failure to meet these conditions will see the student's enrolment in the unit cancelled. Assessment: The assessment for the unit remains at P/F and this will indicate satisfactory/unsatisfactory performance. However, this assessment will now be made by a panel comprising: 1) the student's supervisor or nominee 2) a second member of the academic staff drawn from the same discipline 3) a third member of the academic staff with an interest in the project.
