Additional Tuition Pattern Information: Students will either complete the fieldwork in WA which involves a visit to federal course, Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) and Australian Tax Office (ATO) OR complete a study tour of 1 week to Canberra, visit to the PH to meet with Treasurer and his aids, ATO meeting with commissioner and 2nd commissions, High court meeting with Chief Justice French, Meeting with Inspector General of Taxation, Tax Practitioners Board, Tax Ombudsman, Tresury and Board of Taxation.
Syllabus: The unit is designed to introduce students to the way in which the Australian Taxation Office administers income tax legislation and associated legislation such as the Taxation Administration Act. The unit also gives students access to use taxation software programmes that are utilized in many accounting practices. The unit discusses the role of a Tax Agent and their obligations towards their clients and the Australian Taxation Office.
