UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline.
Syllabus: This unit develops fundamental Unix/Linux concepts: process management, inter-process communication, threads, file systems, memory management, virtual memory and the I/O subsystem. The unit further develops C language knowledge with the ANSI and POSIX standards from previous units to enable competent C programming at the system level. Parallel to this the student is introduced to Unix/Linux scripting and systems administration.
