Course Overview

Bachelor Double Degrees prepare students to develop broad and coherent knowledge and skills in more than one discipline for professional work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 7 qualifications.


This double degree offers students the opportunity to study a wide range of majors from the Faculty of Humanities and Commerce. Combination of these two degrees provides students with plentiful and diverse career opportunities both in Australia and overseas.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks and other essential study materials.


Course Overview Note

Students undertaking MDDU-ACCTG Accounting Double Degree major must complete TAXA2000 Introduction to Australian Tax Law to meet the requirements of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.



Course Entry and Completion Details

Applicants for a Bachelor Double Degree are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://futurestudents.curtin.edu.au and include flexible entry pathways. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.


TEE Applicable Mathematics or Discrete Mathematics is desirable. There may be a portfolio requirement into the Faculty of Humanities majors offered through the School of Design and Art.


Credit for Recognised Learning

Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Pathway to Further Study

Graduates may qualify for entry to a Bachelor Degree with Honours and some Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas and Master degrees. For further details, see the University website http://curtin.edu.au.


Course Entry/Completion Note

Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.



Course Organisation

Bachelor Double Degrees include a combined degree study program leading to two awards. The duration of the double degree may vary among disciplines, but typically requires less time to complete than if the two undergraduate degrees were studied separately.


Students undertake one major from Curtin Business School in combination with a major from the Faculty of Humanities.


Course Learning Outcomes

A graduate of this course can:

1. apply broad discipline knowledge to a range of theoretical and practical situations through research and practical application in the field of humanities and business

2. think creatively and critically to generate innovative solutions to complex social, political, artistic, business and commercial problems

3. access, evaluate and synthesise relevant information from a range of organisational and external sources

4. communicate appropriately and effectively in professional and public contexts

5. apply technologies appropriately

6. demonstrate initiative, responsibility and lifelong learning skills by applying critical reflection and being proactive

7. describe global and cultural issues as related to the humanities and business areas and their impact on local and international communities

8. demonstrate respect for human rights, cultural diversity and the particular rights of Indigenous Australians

9. show leadership and employ ethical practice and professional integrity, both within a team and independently

4 years' full-time study or equivalent part-time. Some units may be available via external study.
