This specialisation will cater for those interested in the design of information systems and the application of computer technology in a business. It leads to careers as business analysts, systems analysts, information centre consultants, information managers in large or small business/government departments/information centres.



Major/Minor/Stream Organisation

The combinations being supported are: Australian Computer Society Professional Accreditation Stream; Business Information Systems & Logistics and Supply Chain Management; Business Information Technology & Systems


Major/Stream Learning Outcomes

A graduate of this course can:

1. apply information systems and knowledge management principles to support business operations by managing an effective information systems body

2. apply systems theory and analytical techniques to develop innovative information systems solutions appropriate to a range of business organisations

3. evaluate and synthesise a range of system solutions for business organisations recommending and managing their implementation

4. effectively communicate information system requirements, policies and procedures

5. evaluate and manage appropriate information systems appropriately for a range of business organisation scenarios

6. continue to utilise and acknowledge the business potential of emerging technologies; independently recognise, apply and appreciate new methodologies

7. use collaboration technologies to support international organisations whilst appreciating the role of information and knowledge management systems

8. recognise the range of potential impacts of information technologies on users and manage the implementation of a wide variety of systems and technologies upon a diversity of users

9. ensure ethical practices in areas including but not limited to privacy and information security; demonstrate professional behaviours whilst employing best practice in independent and collaborative management and operation of information systems environments
