Syllabus: Clinical dental hygiene practice including patient assessment, and preventive and treatment procedures. Patient information, treatment plans, referrals and consultations. Periodontology: routine care and approaches to managing complicated cases, dressings and suture removal. Dental trauma and mouthguards. Dental photography. Orthodontics: assessment, instruments and materials, care of appliances, banding and debanding procedures. This unit has additional practical/clinical hours conducted outside normal semester hours.
