Syllabus: Power quality and harmonics: sources of harmonics, non-linear loads, power conditioning equipment, arc furnace, static var compensators, distortion in voltages and currents, total harmonic distortion, harmonic reduction techniques, voltage sag, swell andflickering, improving techniques for power quality, cost penalty of power quality, use of software in the design of filters, neutral current and harmonics, Flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) devices and asset management.
