Introduction

This honours course combines advanced coursework in the broad field of screen arts, including film and television. It is particularly well suited to students who wish to pursue creative research and production accompanied by scholarly reflection and criticism. Students firstly engage in a semester of coursework and individual project preparation, and then complete a semester of intensive research, writing and creative production and/or professional practice during their honours dissertation. Students arerequired to contribute to their research by conducting presentations in an academic setting. They learn skills in individual project management, research techniques, critical thinking and analytical writing, as well as gaining detailed knowledge in theirspecific project area. More creative production and professional practice can be combined with academic research to provide a substantial applied research outcome. Students are encouraged to complete interdisciplinary work relating screen arts to the broader, converging field of media and information.
