Introduction

This double degree in Communication and Cultural Studies and Media and Information combines knowledge and related expertise with professional training in Media and Information. These degrees are highly complementary, equipping students with vital communication, writing, analytical and research skills that they will find essential when working in the media. By diversifying and studying across two fields, students have a more diverse range of employment opportunities.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

TEE English or English Literature, minimum scaled mark of 60 desirable.

STAT elements considered are E and V.

Note

Students will normally be expected to have attained a higher Tertiary Entrance Rank than is required for both single degrees.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

4 years full-time or equivalent part-time.

Course Organisation

Students undertake one major in Creative Writing, Literary and Cultural Studies, Performance Studies and Professional Writing and Publishing in combination with one major in Film and Television, Internet Studies, Journalism or Librarianship and Corporate Information. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two areas. In this event, the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred tothe single degree.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
