Introduction

This double degree provides students with a broad education in the areas of social science and commerce. Students can combine an area of business such as accounting, property, tourism management, marketing or international business, to name a few, with one of the Social Science majors: Anthropology, History, Politics and International Relations, Geography or Sociology. This double degree combination provides students with a potent combination of practical skills, theoretical knowledge, problem solving, research and outstanding communication and adaptability, equipping them for employment in business, government, defence or industry environments.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

None. TEE Applicable or Discrete Mathematics desirable.

STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

4 years' full-time study or equivalent part-time. Some units may be available via external study.

Course Organisation

Students undertake an anthropology, geography, history, politics and international relations or sociology major in combination with an accounting, banking, economics, finance, business Information Systems, marketing, property, public relations, sport management or tourism management major. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two areas. In this event, the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.

Professional Recognition

Professional recognition is granted to accounting graduates in this double degree on the same basis as to those studying in the single accounting degree.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
