Review of reaction mechanism types. Physical organic chemistry - acidity, kinetics, electronic and solvent effects. Structure determination including IR, UV, NMR and MS techniques. Polymers - radical, cationic and anionic polymerisation processes, physical and mechanical properties of polymers. Laboratory work, including the preparation and analysis of natural products. Polymer chemistry.
