Area:

Department of Social Work and Social Policy

Contact Hours:

3.0

Credits:

25.0

Seminar:

1 x 3 Hours Weekly
The aim of this unit is to provide graduate practitioners with advanced skill and theory development in the field of work place downsizing, management duty of care, work time flexibility and employment restructuring of welfare agencies. In recent years the corporate and commercial nature of social work organisations have tested the communication ability of managers to work cooperatively with other professional staff. A number of current approaches in mediation around the use of risk management, quality work improvement, governance and executive coaching techniques has provided a medium for exploring new approaches in team work and leadership collaboration. This unit will explore such dimensions and the skills and theory needed to facilitate mediation methodology in the corporate environment.
