Modern parallel architectures, Vector, SIMD, MIMD. Benefits and problems with parallel architecture. Processor organisations. Design of parallel algorithms. Parallel programming language constructs. Language for an existing parallel system (MPL on Maspar). Examples of parallel algorithms. Analysis for number of processors and time order of magnitude for the algorithms.
