Introduction to the cultural, historical and social conditions and issues which have shaped and continue to shape the lives of Indigenous people in Autralia. The unit features a number of core themes which underpin the topic areas of the unit. The first themes refers to the dynamic and enduring nature of Aboriginal identity. The second theme is the dichotomy which characterises much of Aboriginal history and experience - dispossession and resistance, loss and renewal, disadvantage and survival.
