Structural and molecular organisation of the cell, protein structure and function including haemoglobin, connective tissue proteins and enzymes, membrane structure and function, basic concepts and design in metabolism, carbohydrate structure, function and metabolism. Laboratory systems. An introduction to basic biochemical laboratory procedures including experiements with buffers, carbohydrates, protein, amino acids, enzymes. Use of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
