Historical and current trends in relevant theory and research are analysed as they relate to knowledge development, using empirical and conceptual strategies. Selected nursing theories and conceptual analyses are evaluated for their appropriateness in the study of nursing phenomena. Positivism - postpositivist shift and introduction to postmodernism.
