Appropriate Skills: Certificate in Laboratory Techniques (TAFE).
Requesting and interpreting test results, quality assurance and specimen collection. Microscopy and photometry. Introductory haematology including morphology, structure and function of blood components. Basic concepts of metabolism. Laboratory mathematics, statistical analysis of clinical data and evaluation of methods. Laboratory safety. Basic pathological processes. Introductory histotechnology. Basic immunology and biochemistry. Separation techniques. Introductory molecular biology.
