Introduction to the philosophy of science. Critical examination of the major research paradigms currently being advanced in nursing - positivist, interpretive and critical. Related principles of scientific inquiry within these paradigms. Further examination of theoretical frameworks in the context of nursing and health care practice in Australia. Contributions from contemporary studies in areas such as phenomenology, feminist thought and critical social science are examined.
