Introduction

This course provides skills and knowledge to bring to professional life an understanding and appreciation of contemporary social issues and heightened skills in social research and analysis, and assists in career development. It prepares for new employment opportunities in a variety of public and private sector contexts requiring social scientific research and analytical skills. It is designed to complement existing knowledge gained from an undergraduate qualification in any recognised area including business, humanities, sciences and education. It also offers advanced, individualised learning opportunities providing a pathway to the Master of Sustainability Studies.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A bachelors degree in any field of study from a recognised tertiary education institution.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Creative overlap between current employment and study is emphasised - students may be awarded credit for prior learning and demostrated existing skills.

Duration and Availability

This fee paying course is available full-time or part-time, normally completed in two semesters full-time or equivalent part-time.

Intermediate Awards

A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Sustainability Studies, may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School. For further definition refer to the Statement and Awards section under General Information.
