Introduction

This honours course is offered to rigorously selected, highly creative, skillful and well motivated students intending to pursue a fourth year of advanced studies in any of the major fields of design specialisation. It is designed to extend individual interests and skills by undertaking formal studies in design research leading to the production of a three-dimensional design, a visual communication design or other appropriate design formats based on associated developmental studies and disciplined research.The course consists of a combination of academic and individual design work, including a placement in the design industry or professional practicum to be undertaken in the first semester of study.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for advanced standing are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The honours course is of one year full-time duration or two years part-time. Part-time students must be professionally employed in a relevant design field. Such work will be taken into account in respect of the of the design practicum requirements in first semester.
