DBA(Curtin)
Introduction
The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) has been designed to develop highly skilled, critical thinking and practical managers who can also read, carry out and apply the results of the research initiative. It enables them to concentrate on the practical situation and the sensitive aspects that are inescapable in the conduct of business. The DBA program comprises not more than one third coursework/research preparation, and a minimum of two thirds research program and dissertation.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A postgraduate qualification and background as approved by the Director, Graduate School of Business and Curtin Business School's Graduate Board of Study. A minimum of six years relevant work experience. The University's Regulations for Doctoral Degrees apply. Bridging studies may be required in some instances.
Duration and Availability
A minimum of three years and a maximum of five years for full-time study and a minimum of three years, maximum seven years for part-time study apply.
Course Organisation
This course is studied as a research degree. The content of the degree should be determined in consultation with the Postgraduate Coordinator, Graduate School of Business. Students without prior studies in research methods and statistical data analysis will be required to undertake relevant preparatory units. This will increase the stated course duration.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study. Thesis preparation and binding, and other costs as normally covered by doctoral students. The School's Guidelines For The Provision of Essential Facilities for Research Students will apply.
