183104 v.7 Master of Science (Chemistry)

MSc(Curtin)

Introduction

The graduate courses in chemistry develop a more critical and problem solving approach to the professional practice of chemistry than is possible to achieve in a first qualification. These courses form a basis for the professional development of experts who are able to cope with sophisticated research and development problems in industry.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A bachelors degree in chemistry or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary educational institution.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee paying course is two years full-time study. The full range of units will not be available in every year. Specialist units will be run in any year only when demand determines. For further details on availability consult the Postgraduate Coordinator, School of Applied Chemistry.

Course Organisation

The course will be a combination of lectures, course work, critical literature surveys and seminars. In addition, the lecture course work will provide a choice of elective topics extending into areas such as chemical engineering and economics.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
