BSc(Curtin)

Introduction

This course provides opportunities to combine study in a science area with support study in other areas of their choice. It provides a means of response to the rapidly changing needs of society, which rarely fit within the traditional boundaries of scientific disciplines. Graduates will have a sound background in their chosen area, but with greater ability to adapt to problems covered in their studies than would otherwise be the case.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

For Curtin College of Higher Education, prior knowledge of Mathematics and Science is desirable.

Specific Requirements

STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q.

Note

Entry for this course is also available after completion of the Diploma in Environmental Technology, or equivalent.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is of three years full-time, or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation

The course regulations will ensure a uniformity of academic achievement without restricting options unnecessarily. In order to complete the three-year degree the requirement will be study of Curtin units, credit transfer from other institutions, advanced standing based on industrial experience, and or the use of Open Learning Australia. Of these, approximately half must be from units at first year level and a minimum of one fifth from units at third year level.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
