MDes(Curtin)

Introduction

This course is offered to graduates of outstanding design ability and professional motivation, and culminating in the design and production of an original, innovative design product or design system making a significant contribution to the field of work,the industry or profession and society.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A bachelors degree in design or in a related discipline, honours or a postgraduate diploma. Consideration may be given to design practitioners of outstanding distinction without these requirements. Students are required to submit a 1000 word outline of individual proposed area of study.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Evidence of completed units at masters level where the professional experience of an applicant demonstrates a capacity for disciplined design research investigation and project development, must be provided.

Duration and Availability

This fee paying course is of one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. This course is also offered in distance education mode. It is possible to undertake this in Malaysia or Singapore. Supervision and support may be provided through partner institutions.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
