Syllabus: | The aim of this unit is to achieve a balance between the practical and theoretical aspects of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) risk management as well as providing an introduction to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) legislation. The unit introduces WHS law, including an outline of the legal system and the hierarchy of legislation, before examining risk management. This begins with an exploration of the OHS risk management process before teaching the elements of an OHS risk managment system More advanced risk assessment techniques will be introduced at the end of the unit to enable students to further their knowledge in quantitative risk assessment and system safety. Even though this unit is designed for working adults from different industries with minimal experience in OHS, students with experience in OHS will benefit by increasing depth of fundamental concepts and be introduced to more advance concepts. |
