UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: | The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline. |
Syllabus: | Corporate stewardship engages with diverse issues, including the question of legal personality, human rights, employee rights, environmental protection, supplier relationships, monitoring and stakeholder rights and responsibilities. The recent evolution of the corporate stewardship agenda will be reviewed, in relation to changing perceptions on values, compliance and respect for people, communities and the environment. While it is proposed that corporate stewardship is a worthwhile investment in the future prosperity of the organisation, wider community and the environment, we investigate the limitations of arguing the profit case alone. We explore and critique evolving best practice approaches for organisations to develop and implement effective corporate stewardship programs that bring value to the organisation and its stakeholders, while ensuring that perceptions of ‘greenwash’ are not justified. |
