UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: | The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline. |
Syllabus: | This unit is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of chemical energetics (or as it is often called - thermodynamics), kinetics and interfacial chemistry that are integral to the understanding of chemistry. All chemical reactions undergo energy changes and can occur over widely varying timescales. In addition, these may occur at the boundaries of different phases, for example solid-to-liquid or solid-to-gas. This unit will provide you with the tools and in-depth knowledge in these areas to understand chemical reactions and what drives them. |
