The Perioperative Nursing Stream covers core aspects of perioperative nursing. The focus is on the development of advanced knowledge and clinical proficiency in care related to perioperative nursing. It includes assessment, induction and ongoing management of the anaesthetised surgical patient, post procedure stabilisation and recovery of the surgical patient. This stream is for the nurse who is working in the perioperative area and wishes to expand their professional competence to an advanced level whilst concurrently undertaking an academically sound course which embraces evidence based practice and ethical thinking.

Students need to stay in original stream as this is linked to the employment sector and scholarship.
Duration and Availability
The Perioperative Nursing Stream is offered part-time due to the concurrent employment requirements relevant to this discipline. It is proposed that this Stream will be available to students in 2017.
