Syllabus: Overview, scope, history and definitions of Indigenous health from both international and Australian perspectives; Indigenous and modern world views and their impact on health, society and environment; epidemiological aspects of Indigenous health; patterns of morbidity and mortality, and geographic, social, economic and political determinants; the history and evolution of delivery of health care to Indigenous people; Indigenous and modern health care systems; basic principles underpinning health care delivery to Indigenous peoples; different levels of health care delivery at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels, the politics of health care delivery and how systems of government impact on health care delivery and allocation of funding and resources;models of practice and case studies from Indigenous peoples in developing and developed countries; intercultural knowledge and skills to work effectively across Indigenous social and health settings.
