Introduction

This research course consists of a thesis involving a study of an applied nature relevant to the student's own teaching situation. The thesis is related to the Centre's areas of research specialisation including teaching and learning, constructivism, school leadership, classroom environments, evaluation and assessment, curriculum and computing and technology education.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A minimum entry requirement of four years of baccalareate study including a degree and teaching qualification plus experience in science, mathematics and/or education.

Duration and Availability

The course is by research and normally requires one to two years of full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation

This course is studied as a research degree, The content of the degree should be determined in consultation with the postgraduate coordinator, Science and Mathematics Education Centre. Students without prior studies in research methods and statistical data analysis will be required to undertake relevant preparatory units. This will increase the stated course duration.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
